The Big Book on Royal Austro-Hungarian Pastries

The Best Recipes by the Famous Pastry Chef from Bad Ischl

There are few institutions in Austria that everybody knows. One of them is the »Zauner« in Bad Ischl.

The incomparable patisserie was established in 1832 and celebrated its 185th anniversary in 2017. The Zauner house is filled with history and tradition, it’s a place where the Austrian coffee house culture is tended to with love and care. In the times of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy they were given the honor of being appointed to be »k.u.k. Hoflieferant« (»Imperial and Royal Purveyor to the Court«).

In the Zauner bakery, world-renowned pastries that have been delighting people from the imperial period up until today were created. Not only does owner Josef Zauner reveal original recipes, he has also revised many of his own recipes delicately and has adjusted them to modern cuisine.
